When to start output
Output is evidence of acquisition, not a shortcut to it. The goal isn’t to delay speaking forever — it’s to stop forcing it before there’s language to draw on.
Signals you’re ready
Section titled “Signals you’re ready”- Hungarian phrases pop into your head unprompted
- You can follow easy native content without translating
- You catch yourself noticing errors in your own attempts
For most people this lands somewhere in Stage 2–3 of the roadmap.
The on-ramp
Section titled “The on-ramp”- Writing first — chat messages, journaling, forum comments. Slow, low pressure, correctable.
- Reading aloud / shadowing — borrow native mouths before trusting your own.
- Conversation — tutors or exchange partners, once writing feels fluid.
