Climb when the current rung feels comfortable, not perfect. Understanding ~70% without pausing is the “move up” signal.

Rung 1 — Learner audio A1

Short, slow stories by a Hungarian teacher, mostly A1–A2. The gentlest real-listening on-ramp; transcripts behind the paywall.

Rung 3 — Dubs: the Hungarian superpower B1

Hungary dubs nearly everything, and dubbing Hungarian is clearer and more standard than street Hungarian. The move: rewatch something you already love with HU dub. Known plot + clean audio = comprehensible input at a level you couldn’t otherwise touch.

Rung 4 — Native YouTube B2

Real, fast, slangy. Pick by interest — compelling beats optimal:

TheVR — gaming/tech, two hosts, enormous back catalog
Hogyan működik? — science explainers with animation; visuals carry meaning
IceBlueBird — story-driven game playthroughs; game context scaffolds the language
PamKutya — comedy/sketches; hard but very rewatchable

Rung 5 — Native everything C1

Films without subs, talk radio, native podcasts, Partizán-style long interviews. At this rung you don’t need a ladder — you need hours.
