Welcome. This site teaches you how to learn Hungarian — not Hungarian itself. It’s the difference between a map and the terrain.

The short version

  1. Hungarian is different, not impossible. The difficulty is front-loaded.
  2. Languages are acquired through input you understand, not memorized from tables.
  3. Your job is to make massive amounts of Hungarian comprehensible and keep showing up.
  4. Tools (Anki, Yomitan, pop-up dictionaries) exist to lower the cost of every encounter with the language.
